For almost 20 years, the Great American Rivalry Series has shined a spotlight on top high school football rivalries across the nation, where long-standing traditions are valued, expectations are sky high, and fans are passionate and loyal.
The intra-city rivalry between Eisenhower and Lawton High is included in the Great American Rivalry Series and the 2023 edition was the definition of a rivalry game as the Eagles had to hold on after the Wolverines’ fourth quarter comeback fell short, 41-33.
As a part of the program, with a partnership with the U.S. Marines, the Great American Rivalry Series singles out the top Scholar Athletes for each team. This year, LHS’s Rhamel Campbell and EHS’s Tenari Atoe were awarded the honor.
Rhamel is a model student both in the classroom and on the gridiron. Rhamel has maintained an impressive GPA during his academic career while participating in numerous extra-curricular activities. Such as volunteer work at a retirement community and working out at the YMCA. After graduating, he plans to continue his academic career at Cameron University.
Tenari is a 4 year member of National Honor Society, has been invited to represent EHS at the National Student leadership conference, has qualified for state for 2 years with the EHS Orchestra and serves as a Captain on the football team.
The program also presents an MVP honor for the game, which went to the Eagles’ Serri Sheridan who was an all-purpose playmaker against the Wolverines.
